I started a Scooby Doo community on Dreamwidth. So anyone who has an account there can join if they want

Don't worry!! I have no plans to abandon this comm or LJ unless things get REALLY bad around here. I just wanted to stake a claim on the "Scooby Doo" community name on Dreamwidth so it could be there for everyone who is keeping a Dreamwidth account as a back up in case the LJ overlords go crazy (again) and mess up this site.

Again, my main focus is gonna stay here for the time being. The other comm is simply a "just in case" precaution.

Hello, fellow Scooby Doo fans!

I noticed that there weren't any Scooby Doo fan communities on Dreamwidth. So I made one (or more specifically, I imported the scooby_doo community from LiveJournal). I look forward to meeting other fans here.

With that out of the way, here are the ground rules for the community:

Scooby Doo Community rules:

-This should go without saying, but posts have to be relevant to Scooby Doo.

-Be civil. No flaming, trolling, or posting obscene stuff.

-As far as content rules go...personally, I'd prefer to keep explicit, NC-17 level stuff out of this comm. This is Scooby Doo after all and youngsters can easily stumble on this place via a Google search and/or their own DW accounts. As for where the line is between R and NC-17; I'll trust the members of this comm to use their best judgment. Basically, if you're not 100% sure what category your fanfic or fanart falls in to, put it under a members' lock just to be safe.

The Scooby Fan blog used our humble community as a source recently! Check it out here!

This may not seem like a big deal. But I think it's kinda cool, so I'm posting it! ^_^

I had planned on drawing something special for Valentines Day. But school and my ridiculously demanding work schedule put the kibosh on that idea. So I decided to be lazy and re-post this old Valentine-themed fanart instead. Enjoy.

Someone I respect recently brought it to my attention that my recent run of snarky comics criticizing Mystery Incorporated (like these) have been making her uncomfortable and may be alienating comm members who like the show. So I wanted to make this Mod post to clear the air.

I don't want any Scooby fans to feel like they're unwelcome here or to feel like they can't write, say, a thread singing the praises of Mystery Incorporated without getting on my bad side. I want this to be a place where ALL Scooby fans can hang out, have fun, and start/participate in discussions freely. And, yes, that even applies to the folks who love the Scrappy years. ~_^

As for me personally...yeah, I have HUGE problems with what Mystery Incorporated did to Velma. And I really dislike how they altered her, Shaggy, and Scooby's personalities and canon relationships to milk "drama" out of them. That's no secret to anyone here.
That said, I have nothing against the people who like the rebooted versions of the characters and think that Mystery Incorporated is the best Scooby Doo incarnation ever. Their opinions are just as valid as mine because, after all, at the end of the day, it's still just a cartoon.

In the future, I'll try to temper my negativity and I'll keep the harsher fanart in my personal LJ if I ever feel the urge to draw more stuff like that. And if I slip up, don't be afraid to let me know. The last thing I want to do is drive away some of the few members we've got.

When the gang told Shaggy that they would no longer foot the bill for his exorbitant eating habits, he tried earning quick cash by selling his body to desperate middle-aged women. But that job ended before it began once Shaggy realized that his first client was into some seriously freaky sh*t!

-Shaggy: You want to let the guy in the monster suit join in!? And you want my DOG to WATCH!?!? Lady, what the f**k is wrong with you!?!?
-Lady: Well, now you know why I have to pay for it.

Ever since she was a little girl, Daphne Blake dreamed of having the perfect wedding. Unfortunately for her friends, Daphne believes that practice makes perfect...

-Fred: Daphne! We're only 12! Why are we rehearsing for our wedding NOW!?
-Daphne: Because it has to be PERFECT Freddie! I want us to have the entire ceremony memorized so nothing goes wrong on my big day! That's why we have to practice every weekend for the next 6 years!
-Velma: But this bridesmaid's dress wont fit me in 6 years. And why can't I wear an orange dress?
-Daphne: You'll wear yellow and like it! Orange would totally clash with my wedding decor. AND WHERE THE F**K ARE SCOOBY AND SHAGGY WITH THE RINGS!?!?!
[identity profile] brendala.livejournal.com

-Velma: "Dammit! First that dumb shark tries to move in on our mystery solving gig. Then that haunted car. Then Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm. Then that weird Chan family. And now Mulder and Scully are trying to weasel us out of a mystery!? They don't even have a fu*&ing mascot!!!"
-Shaggy: "Maybe this is a sign that we should, like, change careers..."
-Velma: "QUIET YOU!"
[identity profile] brendala.livejournal.com
Even sweet characters like Velma Dinkley and Scooby Doo have their breaking points...

-Scooby: "I am not a rysogynist rasshole! Rand Raggy rand I are rust friends!"
-Velma: "I personally abhor violence. But I can't speak for Scooby Doo. So let me ask you something Mister Mystery Incorporated Writer...Are you willing to discuss making some changes to the show? Or will Scooby need to "convince" you some more?"

[identity profile] brendala.livejournal.com

Velma: "So Daphne, I figured it would be a good idea to make sure we can protect ourselves if the boys aren't around. But it turns out that the gun control laws in Coolsville are unbelievably fascistic and we'd have to wait six months to get handgun permits. So I bought us both chainsaws instead!"

Daphne: "Good idea Velma! Next time a crook in a rubber suit tries to molest us, he'll get a crotch full of blades!"

I just got a hand-me-down video capture device and I've been testing it on my Pup Named Scooby Doo DVDs. Here are some sample icons for you guys.

Credit isn't really neccessary since I clearly don't own the series. But I'd really appreciate it if anyone who used these icons gave me credit anyway! ^_^

Here they are!
1) Obligatory Shelma icon (this one is my favorite)

More icons under the cut )

If anyone has any requests for icons/screen caps of specific Pup characters, just say so and I'll see what I can do. ^_^

[livejournal.com profile] secondlina  (one of my awesome LJ buddies) drew a Shaggy/Velma picture for my birthday and I just had to share it here!
Also included is some bonus Tangled fanart:

I already put these in the comm profile. But I felt it warranted a post, too. I just want to make sure we're all on the same page.

And, while I have your attention, I'm open to suggestions about how to update the look of this place. The current black&gray look isn't doing it for me.

Yesterday I sent a report to the LJ overlords about this comm and let them know that the current Mod had a dead LJ account (and the fact that no mod=lots of annoying spam). Well, believe it or not, they promptly responded by making me the new Moderator! O_o

I don't have any Mod experience and I'm currently on the look out for competent co-mods to help me out with things I'm not tech savvy enough to do myself (mainly designing and implementing new layouts). In the meantime, I'm going to add some much needed tags, purge all the members with deleted LJs, and get rid of the spam posts.

As far as content rules go...personally, I'd prefer to keep explicit, NC-17 level stuff out of this comm. This is Scooby Doo after all and youngsters can easily stumble on this place via a Google search and/or their own LJ accounts. As for where the line is between R and NC-17; I trust you guys to use your best judgment. And I would advise anyone posting a hard-R fanfic or fanart to put in under a members' lock just to be on the safe side.

Right now I'm opening the floor up to suggestions on how to improve this comm:

-What tags do you think I should use?
I'm not sure if I should just make basic tags (like fanart, fanfic, & review) or really specific ones (like tags for each Scooby canon). Getting too specific could easily lead to us drowning in a ridiculous amount of tags and I'm hoping you guys can help me figure out a balance there.

-Ground Rules?
Aside from the content thing, I don't really have any specific rules in mind (aside from the obvious "act like civil human beings" rule).

-Anything else I missed?

Thanks for your support and here's hoping we can salvage this dingy old place and turn it into something great! ^_^
